The top experts in the world are ardent students. The day you stop learning, you’re definitely not an expert.
A brain is a precious thing to have. We should always be learning, developing and expanding our mind. We should never let “experts” tell us what to think. They can give us their opinion, and then, along with studying the facts and information we take the time to study, we can make informed decision as to our actions and mindset. When we just give others the power to make up our minds without considering all points of view, we become puppets.
There is a world of information out there: libraries, research papers, books, scientists, and the mother of all information, the internet! There is no reason why we, as intelligent beings, cannot look for and find answers to questions that are important to our lives, whether it be about health, the environment, and the realities of climate change. We can make rational, educated decisions about our world, even if we are not scientists.
That is not to say that you should believe everything that anyone says just because it is on the internet or in books. Don’t believe what you read here just because I’ve said it. Put some effort into it and check the facts. Correct me if I am wrong.
One thing I have been learning is that we need to have the freedom to express our views, even if we don’t agree or like what others might say. Understanding is not necessarily agreeing, but when you understand another point of view, it creates a point of reference, a place to create connection. I am open to learning, and hope that this blog will be a way to expand my education. I will be sharing my thoughts on many issues and look forward to hearing yours. All I ask is that you are respectful in your contributions.
